Jesus made a powerful statement in our opening scripture that you should never forget. He said, "...I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12).
You see, there is something called the light of life that is, the light for every aspect of your existence. There is light for marriage, light for finances, and even light for happiness. Do you desire happiness? It's found in Jesus. Do you long for fulfilment? It's in Jesus. Do you seek satisfaction? Again, it's all in Jesus. He boldly declared, "...I am the light of the world...".
Physics and Chemistry are not the light of the world. University education is not the light of the world. None of these can truly guide your life. Jesus alone is the light of the world. When He said, "...he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12), He meant that whoever follows Him will never live in confusion or fear.
The Bible tells us, "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee" (Isaiah 60:1). Once you have Jesus, His light begins to shine in you and through you. You don't have to live in darkness anymore. In any area of your life where darkness seems to prevail, Jesus should be that light. Let Him shine His light there. Learn about that aspect of your life from Jesus.
Don't let the world teach you how to marry—let Jesus teach you. Don't let the world teach you how to raise your children—let Jesus teach you. Don't let the world teach you how to make money, or even how to spend it—let Jesus teach you.
If you truly want to know what fulfilment means—if you want to experience real satisfaction—then follow Jesus, because He is the light of the world. There is indeed a light of life, and that light is Jesus. The Bible says, "In him was life; and the life was the light of men" (John 1:4). Jesus is that light, and when you follow Him, you will have the light of life—light that brings direction, joy, and victory in every area of your life.
