Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path - PSALM 119:105

Can I tell you a story? I once heard of a young man who was looking for his bunch of keys under a street light one night around 9 p.m. He was searching and searching, pacing around the light post. Then his friend, returning from work, saw him and asked, "What are you looking for?" He said, "My bunch of keys". The friend quickly joined him, and together they searched for several minutes.

After a while, the friend asked, "Wait, was it here you misplaced the keys?" He replied, "No, I actually misplaced them on the other street—but there's no light there, so I decided to look for them here since there's light". That's when his friend realized something was wrong. The man had lost his keys elsewhere, but he was searching there because it was easier and brighter. Of course, he would never find them there.

Relate that to life. The reason why the problem of many people will never end is this: they look for solutions where God did not keep it, and they are putting all their energy, all their strength, in the wrong place. The Bible says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death" (Proverbs 14:12). The solution to all your problems, even the ones you will have tomorrow, is in the Word of God. As the Bible says, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions" (Psalm 107:20). Look for answers in God's Word if you want to know peace. Life is not hard.

People often say the words of the elders are words of wisdom, and that we should listen to them. But what they forget to tell us is this: even fools grow old. Fools grow old—it's not only wise people that grow old. Wisdom is not somewhere around a certain age that when you grow up, your head will touch it and it will enter you because you are old. No. If somebody were a fool at the age of 20 and never did anything to remove that foolishness, he'll also be a fool at the age of 70—and he will give you a 70-year-old foolish advice.

So, God's Word is the solution. Fix your eyes on the Word. The Bible says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5–6). God's Word has the answers you need for every question in life—whether it's guidance, peace, purpose, or direction.

Don't be like the man searching for his lost keys in the wrong place because it's convenient. Remember, "...the LORD giveth wisdom: Out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding" (Proverbs 2:6). Look for your answers where God placed them—in His Word. There lies true wisdom, direction, and light for your journey.

Confession & Prayer

"Dear Father, thank You for showing me that Your Word is the source of all wisdom and solutions. Help me to seek answers in Your Word and not in the wrong places. Let Your Word guide my steps, and teach me to grow in understanding and wisdom all the days of my life, in Jesus' name. Amen."
