Our opening scripture in John 8:44 tells us there is no truth in Satan. It says, "...When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44). Jesus said Satan is a liar, and when he speaks, he lies. Watch out for what the Bible didn't say. The Bible doesn't say, "Whenever he speaks, he is lying". It says, "When he speaketh a lie...". This means that for Satan to lie is simply for him to speak. Anything Satan says is a lie; he never tells the truth. The only way he won't lie is if he remains silent. If Satan speaks, a lie will come out.
Many today don't understand the nature of the devil. Most people don't believe that a complete lie can be fabricated to ruin someone, especially ministers of the Gospel. Think of Joseph: Potiphar's wife falsely accused him, saying, "...The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:" (Genesis 39:17). If such a story were shared online today, many would believe her just because it sounds convincing, even though it was entirely false.
Consider also the New Testament in Matthew 28:12- 13: "And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept". After Jesus' resurrection, the Pharisees and elders paid the soldiers to lie publicly, because the story of Jesus' death and resurrection was a national matter. So be careful of what you believe online.
If you understand Satan's nature, you will see that people today can still be paid to lie and to claim they saw what they didn't. Think of Stephen in the Bible: "...they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God" (Acts 6:11). People were paid to testify against him, leading to his execution. Satan is the father of lies, and he's still lying today. He will lie to you, use the media to lie, and do whatever it takes to deceive, because lying is his nature. There is no truth in him—don't ever forget this.
Let this truth sink deeply into your heart. Recognize Satan as the father of lies. Be vigilant with what you see and hear, especially online. Pray for discernment and cling to God's Word, which is truth. Don't be swayed by lies, but stand firm, anchored in the unchanging truth of God. Remember, as a child of God, you have the Spirit of Truth within you. Refuse to be misled by the enemy's lies.
