This is a reminder that we walk by faith, not by sense or intelligence, because it seems many Christians have forgotten this simple rule and foundation of Christianity. We walk by faith and not by what seems logical or reasonable. Be careful of any gospel that makes too much sense. The true Gospel of Jesus doesn't make sense to the natural man and never will. Who would need faith in the Gospel if it made any sense? The nature of the Gospel is foolishness. Any gospel that appeals to human logic is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Such a gospel never produces faith in its hearers. No one will be saved, healed, changed, or transformed by such a gospel. It would only stir up arguments and confusion.
The Bible says, "The teaching about the cross seems foolish to those who are lost..." (1 Corinthians 1:18 ERV). So don't try to analyze the Gospel through logical reasoning. It's useless to try to make sense out of something that, by nature, is nonsense to human intelligence. Leave it that way. If you want supernatural results—the kind of results found in the Bible—then stick with the Gospel by simply believing it and not trying to understand it logically because it wouldn't make sense.
It's the Gospel that doesn't make sense that works!
Understand that a man of faith doesn't make sense. If you've already gone off trying to make sense to unbelievers and carnal men, you've missed the point. The Bible says, "...it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe" (1 Corinthians 1:21). So it's the foolishness of preaching that saves people, not the intelligent and logical reasoning of the Gospel. This is why the Bible says, "Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, LET HIM BECOME A FOOL, that he may be wise" (1 Corinthians 3:18). You have to be considered a fool by human standards to be saved and make Heaven. You have to be a real fool to believe in the virgin birth of Jesus, in the resurrection, in the ascension, in the rapture, in followership, in speaking in tongues, in tithes and offerings, etc. Yes!! Christianity is foolishness pro- max! It may seem like foolishness to the world, but strangely, it's this 'foolish' gospel that works. The results are supernatural- This foolish Gospel produces extraordinary results, increase, and growth in health, finances, and every other aspect of life.
Some people have enjoyed this life and grace so abundantly- just like Jesus said- that they have completely forgotten that this thing is even foolish. How can something foolish work like this? God is great! Embrace the Gospel's seeming foolishness, for in it lies the true power of God.
