Some people believe faith is a church thing or for those who are matured in Christ. But as a matter of fact, the moment you received Christ, faith was given to you. The Bible says, ...according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith" (Romans 12:3). You see, faith is not just a church thing, it is for all God's children. It is for every area of life—whether you're a student or a businessman. Faith works in your health, finances, studies, and career. To see your faith in action, you must build it. You can't afford to face life's difficulties without it.
Look at David. When he faced Goliath, he didn't act out of ignorance. He knew that the uncircumcised could not stand against God's people. Circumcision was a sign of the covenant, and David boldly declared, "...who is this uncircumcised Philistine...?" (1 Samuel 17:26). His confidence came from God's Word. So, what about you? Where is your faith? Life presents many giants, but faith isn't limited to defeating giants alone. It's for facing academic challenges, building your career, overcoming health issues, and handling daily life. Faith is a lifestyle, not just a belief.
In the Bible, Jesus often asked His disciples, "...Where is your faith?... (Luke 8:25). One time, they were in a boat, caught in a fierce storm, fearing they would perish. They woke Jesus, saying, "...Master, don't you care that we perish?" (Mark 4:38). But Jesus rebuked the storm and asked, "...Where is your faith?... (Luke 8:23- 25). He didn't tolerate their fear. He rebuked them because fear is unacceptable to Him. Fear is the opposite of faith. How many times have you been afraid and thought it was okay? Maybe bad news shook you or you faced a situation that seemed impossible to overcome. But Jesus doesn't excuse fear. He rebuked His disciples for their fear, showing that He expects us to live beyond fear. We are born into a supernatural life where fear has no place. The answer to fear is faith. The Bible says that "...When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly, the storm stopped and all was calm!" (Luke 8:24 NLT). Jesus expected them to do the same. He wanted them to operate in faith just as He did. Why? Because faith is the key to overcoming every situation. He knew that the same power He used is available to us.
Where is your faith today? It's time to build it. Life's challenges are like waves and storms that you can speak to. Just as Jesus spoke to the storm, He wants you to speak to the issues you face with faith. Don't crawl in fear when you have the power to rise up in faith. Build your faith. Speak to the mountains, speak to the waves, and take charge of the storms in your life.
