THE VASTNESS OF HIS GREATNESS

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.- ISAIAH 55:8- 9

A lot of times, people ask questions like, "Where did God come from? Who created God?" While these questions are common, the issue isn't with the answer itself, nor with whether or not the Bible has information on it. The real challenge lies in our limitations as created beings. As humans, we simply don't have the capacity in our minds to fully understand such truths.

Imagine this: a person manufactures a laptop or a phone, creating the circuit board, the motherboard, and all the components. Now, picture those parts trying to figure out the existence of their creator. They can work together to make the laptop function, but understanding the manufacturer is beyond their scope. There's a vast gap in existence, generation, and even the realm of being. The things within the laptop can't comprehend the nature of the person who designed them, because they're not even in the same realm. Similarly, created beings, like us, cannot understand the One who created us. Everything in this world has intelligence- not just humans, but all things, whether we see them as living or non- living. Jesus spoke to a tree, saying, "...No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever..." (Mark 11:14). God told Moses to speak to a rock: "...Speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water..." (Numbers 20:8). Ezekiel spoke to dry bones, saying, "...O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD" (Ezekiel 37:4), and even the winds were also addressed. This world and everything in it can hear, and they can respond to the Creator's command. But no matter their intelligence, these created things can never understand the Maker.

The knowledge of where God came from exists, but our human minds can't contain it. God is not only vast in His existence but also infinitely beyond our realm. We don't lack the information; we lack the capacity to process it. Think of it this way: the one who creates a shoe is not a shoe, and the one who makes a car is not the car. The creator exists outside of what they create. Likewise, God is not contained within our world or our understanding. He is not even in the realm of human understanding. God is big — really big! The maker of a computer doesn't need to be inside the computer to make it work; he simply stands outside and ensures it functions. In the same way, God oversees all creation without being bound by it.

Our inability to understand God's origin is not a limitation of God or of the Bible. Instead, it's a reminder of His greatness and our human limitation. The Bible says,"Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable"(Psalm 145:3). God's thoughts, ways, and existence surpass anything we can imagine.

Confession & Prayer

"Heavenly Father, I thank you for revealing your Word to me today. Thank you for your infinite greatness. You are so great and your greatness is unsearchable. Help me to trust in your wisdom, knowing that your ways are higher than mine, in Jesus' name. Amen."
