I want to teach you something foundational about life. First, you must understand that God created you. You are a product of God. There's a reason I emphasize this: only the manufacturer of a product can write a manual for it. Your television, your phone, or any electronic device comes with a manual—if you follow it, you get the best out of it. Many people, however, ignore the manual until the device is damaged. That's dangerous.

God, who made you, also provided a manual for life: the Bible. The Word of God is God's manual for man.

Now, there's something else you have to realize about yourself—this you that God created. You are a spirit being. This part is so important. I'm introducing you to you now. You need to understand yourself first. You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. Your body is your house; your body is not the real you.

Among all the creatures of God, in Genesis, God created many things—animals, trees, all kinds of living things. But among all these, man—you—are the only creature made in God's image. And we all know God is a Spirit. Therefore, you are also a spirit being. Job 10:11–12 says, "Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, And hast fenced me with bones... And thy visitation hath preserved my spirit". Your flesh and skin are your clothes; they are not the real you. You are a spirit being.

James 2:26 further explains, "For as the body without the spirit is dead...". Meaning, the reason your body is alive now is because your spirit is inside your body. The body without the spirit is dead. Your body can die someday, but the spirit man never dies. That's why you will live forever.
