CULTURED BY THE WORD

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: - 2 TIMOTHY 3:16

Everyone is a product of what they've been taught. The things you hear and see over time shape the way you think, act, and live. That's why people can do extreme things and still see them as normal—because of what they've been taught and the kind of training they've received.

Now hear this: if you truly want to know fulfilment in life, let the Word of God culture you. The Bible says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16). The Word of God is our training material. Christianity is not just about gathering on Sundays to sing and dance—it is a life built and shaped by the Word.

Ask yourself: What are the things that have formed your values? What determines what you like or pursue in life? What do you truly appreciate? Some people think the good life is having a nice car, a beautiful house, or getting married early. Someone begins to feel uncomfortable at 33 and considers herself unfulfilled because she isn't married. But where did that thinking come from? It came from the way she was trained to think.

Another person believes, “I was born to make impact”. To such a person, if they haven't influenced their world, they haven't lived. Others may think fulfilment is owning a land by the age of 30. But the Bible says, “…be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2). Don't let the world shape your values or define what fulfilment means to you. Let the Word of God renew your mind and teach you the true meaning of life.

Don't let tribe or tradition define you. Don't be a Bini man, Igbo man, or Yoruba man by training—let the Word of God culture you. Fulfilment can be taught. Pleasure can be taught. Let the Word of God culture your mind—it will give you peace, direction, and satisfaction.

The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Notice, it doesn't say “in the way he wants to go,” but “in the way he should go”. That means there is a right way to live—a path of fulfilment we can be trained into. Don't seek fulfilment in marriage, money, or culture. Seek fulfilment in the Word of God.

Do you want to be a fulfilled man or woman? Let God's Word raise you. As you meditate on it day and night, the Bible says you will be like “…trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season… In all that they do, they prosper” (Psalm 1:2–3 SBA).

When the Word cultures your mind, it transforms your values, renews your thinking, and gives your life true direction. Let the Word become your manual for living—your standard for thinking, speaking, and acting. That's how to live a life of peace, purpose, and lasting fulfilment.

Confession & Prayer

"Father, thank You for Your Word that recultures my mind and directs me in the way I should go. I choose to let Your Word define my values, desires, and path to true fulfillment, in Jesus' name. Amen."
