PLACE GOD ABOVE YOUR NEEDS

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you - MATTHEW 6:33

Many people approach God with their needs and expect Him to fulfil them. But Jesus said, "...seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). Every blessing—be it a spouse, a child, a job, or provision—is tied to your relationship with and service to God.

You don't pray for a husband or wife—your husband or wife is found in your service to the Lord. A relationship that is not discovered in your service to God is not from God. Every blessing you need is connected to your service in His kingdom.

Don't approach God primarily with your needs. God is not in Heaven for you—you are on Earth for Him. Your service to God is far more important than the things you ask Him to do for you. Yet, many today are driven to church by their needs. When those needs seem unmet after a few months, they move to another church, abandoning where God planted them. They leave the choir, ushering department, or other services, seeking a place that can “give them a husband” or “solve their problem”. If you are this way, you are serving yourself and not God.

If you are in church just because you want a child, a job, a husband, or money, you are not truly serving God. You are serving your needs. And don't let anyone deceive you—you don't have to have a spouse, a child, or wealth to be joyful. None of these things bring true satisfaction. True life is not found in possessions or people; it is found in Jesus.

Remember His words: "...whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst..." (John 4:14). When you meet Jesus, your thirst for things fades away because He becomes your satisfaction. How could anyone truly have Jesus and still be sad that they haven't married or had a child? Which Jesus did they meet? The real Jesus fills your heart with completeness, peace, and joy.

Don't base your service to God on your needs or on what you expect Him to do for you. That is not Christianity. Many have turned God into a means to an end—they want to use Him, but they never allow Him to use them. True faith says, “Whether or not He heals me, He is still my Healer; whether or not He delivers me, He is my Deliverer; whether or not He provides for me, He is my Provider”.

That is true Christianity. We love Him not because of what He does, but because “…he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Serve God for who He is. Know Him beyond your needs. He is not a thing—He is a Person. Love Him. Delight yourself in Him. Rejoice in Him daily. The time is short; give your heart fully to the Lord. Serve Him passionately. Let your joy be rooted in your relationship with Him, not in the things of this world.

Confession & Prayer

"Dear Father, thank You for teaching me that my relationship with You is not based on my needs but on love and devotion. I choose to serve You wholeheartedly, not for what I can get, but because You are my life, my joy, and my satisfaction. I delight myself in You today and always. Amen."
