Many people were destroyed in the Bible — not because they said or did what was wrong, but because they didn't have the right to say or do what they did. People have died not for doing wrong, but because it was not their place to do it. Some perished simply because they didn't have the right to say what they said, even though they said the right thing.
That is where understanding order comes in. If you want to go far with God, you don't just need to be gifted; you must understand the place of order. Especially if you are a leader in the house of God, as you grow in the things of God, you must understand order. Order is very, very important. The Bible says, “Let all things be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40).
The first word, decently, means excellent. God wants things to be done excellently. Then He said, “Let all things be done in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40 SBA). Decently and orderly are not the same. Order means placement. Order means understanding your rights and jurisdictions. Order means where things should be. You can dress very fine but stand in the wrong place. The point is not whether you dressed decently; it's about being rightly placed. Things are only beautiful in their place.
Here's a simple example: your pot. You're not ashamed of your pot — that black pot that cooks your food. You're proud of it because it's in its place: the kitchen. But imagine you came in with your visitors on a special day and met Brother Pot sitting on top of your dining table. Why is he there? Pot heard special guests were coming, and since the flower vases, TV, and decorations were all in the sitting room waiting to welcome the visitors, Pot thought he too should join them.
Now, imagine your terrible sponge also left the bathroom to join the meeting in the sitting room, resting on your dining table beside your bathroom slippers. You would be furious and fling that pot away, not because it's a bad pot, but because it's out of place.
Order is more important than decency. This simple example has grounded many Christians without them realizing it. When you don't understand order, you frustrate your own progress. There are things you don't say — not because they're wrong, but because it's not your place to say them. There's divine order in everything. The Bible says, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers...” (Romans 13:1). There are higher powers or authority. Recognize authority. You can't just talk to anyone or just open your mouth about anything just because you know about it.
Many have brought sickness and death into their lives, their families or children. People have lost jobs and peace, not because they said what was wrong, but because they spoke out of place. The Bible says, “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction” (Proverbs 13:3 NKJV).
Order is very important. God is a God of order. Everything He does follows divine arrangement. The Bible says, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace...” (1 Corinthians 14:33) If you want to go far with God, you must understand and follow His divine order.
