THE LIGHT OF LIFE

…I am the light of the world. He that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life - JOHN 8:12

Brothers and sisters, the world you were born into is a dark world. Don't be surprised that sickness exists—cancer, diabetes, poverty, depression, fear—these were all here before you came. You were born into a world affected by darkness, controlled by the enemy. That is why you need the light. Without the light of life, you are vulnerable to sickness, poverty, and despair. You need Jesus to navigate your way through life.

Jesus is not a religion; He is the light of life. Every person in this world needs Him. It would be better not to have been born than to live a life without the light of life. This is why sickness exists. Never accept sickness as normal. Do not settle for it. God did not design life to include sickness, poverty, or depression. These are not part of the original plan for life.

When you lack the light of life, you could walk into sickness. Understand that sickness is not something that attack people or is thrown at them. It's people that walk into sickness because they were walking in darkness. Jesus said, "...I am the light of the world..." (John 8:12).

Think of the place you are right now. You walked through the aisles or pathways without any difficulty. You navigated easily because you had light. But if the lights are off, moving through the same room or any environment would become difficult. Life is the same. You need the light of life - Jesus - to guide your steps.

Life is not hard. All answers to life's questions and solutions to life's challenges are in God's Word. Jesus promised, "...he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12) He did not say “maybe”, He said “shall” - it is the absolute truth.

God's Word is light. The Psalmist said, "The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple" (Psalm 119:130).

The word, “simple” in the scripture here, means a foolish person. God's Word makes even the foolish wise. Do not rely on your own understanding or wisdom—your natural wisdom is not enough to make you prosperous or secure. But as you understand God's Word, it brings light and wisdom into your life.

Being born again is not enough. You can be born again and still suffer needlessly. True change comes when you understand and apply God's Word. As people understand His Word, it brings light into their lives. It gives wisdom for living, guides every step and makes life easier. Glory to God!

Confession & Prayer

"Dear Father, thank You for sending Jesus as the light of the world. Help me to follow Him so I will not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. Teach me to understand Your Word, and let its wisdom guide every step of my life, in Jesus' name; Amen."
