The Bible in our opening scripture says, "...I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy..." (Acts 2:17). This is God's agenda for the last days—an outpouring of the Spirit, where sons and daughters are no longer ordinary. Just like God said, "...I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh..." (Joel 2:28).
Now listen to me. The foremost benefit, the primary reason or effect of the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life, is the ability to prophesy. It says your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. And what does it mean to prophesy? There are two sides to prophecy.
The first side is foretelling—telling about the future, seeing into the future. This is consistent with the scripture that says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7). You see what will happen and you tell it. You are not the one that made it happen. Meaning, it didn't happen because you said it. It would have happened whether or not you said it. It was bound to happen.
But the other side of prophecy is forthtelling. This is where each of us should function. Foretelling requires a special prophetic gift, but forthtelling is for everybody. Forthtelling is also the gift of prophecy—the ability to say something and it happens because you said it. Words with divine potency, divine ability, words impregnated with divine power, just like God who "calleth those things which be not as though they were" (Romans 4:17).
This is why the Holy Spirit came upon our lives. "And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy" (Acts 2:17). This is for everybody, not only those in prophetic ministry. They will speak words, and they will come to pass. Words that can cause changes in situations.
This is what every child of God has access to. The Holy Spirit is not just for speaking in tongues. There's more. At that level of life, there's nothing you cannot change. This is the gift of prophecy. Paul told Timothy, "...that thou by them mightest war a good warfare" (1 Timothy 1:18).
Christians suffer unnecessarily—financial problems and business struggles. What you need is prophecy. Prophesy to change the season of your life. You don't wait for money to come—create it through prophecy, because the Bible says, "Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee" (Job 22:28).
Without the gift of prophecy, there's no future. A future you have not declared does not exist. If you don't create your future, you're heading toward the future somebody else created for you. That's why God told Joshua, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth..." (Joshua 1:8).
If you understand this, you can't be broke. You cannot die prematurely. Now is the time to use your mouth the way God designed it. You have the Spirit, the ability, and the authority. Don't wait for life to happen to you—speak life into your path. Prophesy your progress, finances, health, success, and tomorrow. Open your mouth and create the life God has ordained for you.
