The Devil wants you to think that you are a stupid person, that you are weak, and that you can never do well or please God. He wants you to believe you will never make it in this Christian life and that you should just give up because you are struggling with habits. But you must realize that Satan keeps giving you those thoughts so that you will accommodate a mindset of worthlessness, the Bible exposes his nature by reminding us that “…he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44).
We must not mistake a feeling of worthlessness for humility. There are people who enjoy feeling worthless, thinking those thoughts make them look humble before God. They will even say to Him in prayer, “Oh God, I know you are Great, Almighty God. Who am I? I'm like a little ant; I am nothing before you”. Now, when you talk that way, you think you are being humble. No, you are doing two things: you are insulting God and being stupid. How do you say you are nothing, when He said in His Word that “…as he is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17); To think you are useless is to contradict God. He said you are like Him—did He send His Son to die for nothing?
That is exactly how Satan wants you to think. Then you hear some say, “Father, I know I'm not worthy” You were not worthy; that is why He came to die. The Bible says, “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). But now, the Scripture says we are “accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6 KJV). You are worthy now! You can't say you're not worthy anymore. So when will you ever be worthy if you are not now?
He called you a king! The Bible says He has “…made us kings and priests unto God…” (Revelation 1:6 KJV). God said in His Word that you are like Him. You are a child of God. It's not just a name—that is who you are in reality. The Bible says, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God” (1 John 3:1). Jesus is the firstborn in this family.
If you don't change the way you think, nothing will change in your life. The Bible says, “…be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2). All the big, big things God has for you, you will never experience them because you think you are not worthy too.
So from this day, stop agreeing with the Devil and start agreeing with God. When those wrong thoughts come, answer them with the Word. Say what God has said about you. See yourself the way He sees you. Walk like someone Jesus died for. Think like a child of God. Live like one who is loved, accepted, and empowered. As you keep renewing your mind with the truth, your life will begin to line up with what God has already written about you, and you will start stepping into all the big, big things He has prepared for you.
