You must understand that there is a meaning for your life. There is a meaning for your marriage. Many Christian marriages face problems because they fail to find their meaning in Christ. When you marry for love alone, or for anything outside Jesus, you will face problems. Anything that is not fulfilling its purpose is being abused. There is a purpose for your marriage in Jesus. As the Message translation of the opening scriptures says, "...everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him" (Colossians 1:16 MSG).
The same applies to your career or studies. Whether you are studying electrical engineering, biochemistry, or accounting, your course has a purpose in Jesus. Have you found out that the course you study has a purpose in Jesus? When you discover that purpose, fulfillment begins. The course now makes sense. Anything outside Jesus is lifeless. He said, "...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Anything separated from Jesus is dead, meaningless, and purposeless.
Even your money, resources, and possessions have a God-given purpose. What do you do with your money? How can you have money and all that your money does is purchase items like food, cars, houses, lands etc.? What legacies are you leaving behind here? Do you know the purpose of money in Christ? Do you know the purpose of marriage in Christ? Do you know that even raising children has a purpose in Christ? All these things have purpose in Christ. But when people have all these things outside Christ, they will never know satisfaction. The Bible says, "He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity" (Ecclesiastes 5:10). Everything has its meaning in Christ Jesus. The Bible says, "... things were created by him, and for him" (Colossians 1:16). Everything God began finds its true purpose only in Him.
Your purpose is in Christ. The Passion Translation of Colossians 1:16 says, "For in him was created the universe of things, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen... it all exists through him and for his purpose!" So, what is Jesus' purpose? Soul-winning. He said, "...the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). The Bible also declares, "...For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8).
If His purpose is to save the lost and destroy the works of darkness, then your purpose becomes clear only when your life aligns with His. Everything God placed in your hands—life, education, career, marriage, resources—was designed to function in Christ. When you place all in His hands, clarity, purpose, and direction come. Let Jesus be the centre of your decisions, the reason behind your pursuits, and the purpose behind your success. That is when true fulfilment begins.
