THE ACT OF GIVING

Glorify God with all your wealth, honoring him with your firstfruits, with every increase that comes to you - PROVERBS 3:9 TPT

When it comes to the worship of God, your heart is needed. God said, "My son, give me thine heart…" (Proverbs 23:26). Giving is one of the clearest expressions of worship. The Bible says, "Worship the Lord with your wealth and with the first part of everything you produce" (Proverbs 3:9 SBA).

The reason people don't give to God is because their hearts are not with Him. It's a shame that many Christians buy into the argument that they should not give offerings or tithes. Anyway, there is no true Christian who will ever say such a thing.

Most people think when you give, it's the church receiving—but that is the mistake. There is no worship of God that does not involve giving. You cannot worship a God—whether it is the God who made Heaven and Earth or a false deity—without offering. Anything called God cannot be approached without offering.

The reason most people like messages that say, "Don't give your tithe. Don't give offerings. Pastors are frauds," is because they don't even love God. It makes it easy for them because they don't love Him in the first place. If you truly love God, you must give Him an offering. I'm not talking about the kind of offering you give because a church told you to or because of a project. Anyone who really has a walk with God will always be prompted by Him to give something. It's normal. On your own, you will sense God telling you to give an offering.

Look at Abraham. Wherever he went, he raised an altar. What was on those altars? Offerings. God is not hungry. He said, "If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: For the world is mine, and the fullness thereof" (Psalm 50:12). About the cattle, He said, "...every beast of the forest is mine, And the cattle upon a thousand hills" (Psalm 50:10). Imagine God expecting a ram from someone, and the person is saying, "My ram! I can't give my ram. I suffered to buy it". Then God says, "Every beast of the forest is mine. I don't need your ram". He doesn't need your offering; He asks you to give because that is the way to worship Him.

Let me tell you, all the attacks about giving in church are not about the church; they are about God. It's about worship. If it were about money, spending millions in a club is praised, yet giving even a fraction in God's house is criticized. The problem is not the money. The problem is who it is given to—God, because giving is an act of worship. Offering is an act of worship. Worship is not complete without offering. When you give to God, you honour your Maker. Your offering represents your heart before God. So learn to worship God with your substance, and your life will overflow with His goodness.

Confession & Prayer

"Dear Father, thank You for teaching me that giving is a part of my worship. I choose to honour You with my heart and my substance. Thank You for supplying me with every good thing and for the grace to give joyfully and generously, in Jesus' name. Amen."
