WALKING WITH GOD

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God - JOHN 1:1

Walking with God is so important. And it starts by reading your Bible. Life will never make sense until you get close to the Word. The Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). The Word of God is God and when you stay close to the Bible, you're actually staying close to God Himself. You can't truly walk with God without walking in His Word. His Word reveals His thoughts, His ways and His plans for your life.

But to walk with God, you must have a plan. Nobody grows spiritually by just saying, "I've decided to start reading". No, no, no—you must have a plan. There are Bible reading plans in this devotional; you can choose one chapter every day or two. Just get a plan. Live your life by a system.

Somebody once said something I've taken very seriously, which is, "Systems are better than discipline". That statement hit me deeply. Systems are far stronger than self-discipline—you can trust systems more than you can trust willpower. No wonder the Bible says, "Let all things be done decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40). A system helps you live in order, and order sustains growth.

I'll give you a simple example. Someone may say, "I'll not spend all my money. I'll be disciplined". But discipline alone fails when pressure comes, while a system obligates you to do the right thing. Systems create boundaries that protect you from failure. Take fasting, for instance. One person says, "I won't eat until 4pm," yet he passes his kitchen often, and he finally yields to the temptation of eating. Another has a system—it's now his culture—so he simply avoids the kitchen entirely. He doesn't fight temptation because his system removes it.

That's how it works with your spiritual life. Systems are better than self-discipline. Create a system for reading the Bible. Many people desire to study the Word, but desire alone doesn't produce consistency. A system does. A system means you have a fixed time and pattern for reading the Word—not just the intention to do so. Have a time. What time have you created? Can you say 6 a.m.? 7 a.m.? Or one chapter a day? Start from there. That's the first step in building your walk with God.

The Bible says, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…" (James 4:8). Every time you pick up your Bible, you're taking a step towards God—and He will take a step towards you.

Walking with God requires order and structure. When you build a system that brings you to His Word daily, your relationship with Him becomes steady and alive—not driven by feelings but by the foundation you've built. So take the step today: set a time, set a place, and stay consistent. Every small act of discipline will strengthen your walk with God and give your life meaning.

Confession & Prayer

"Dear Father, thank You for showing me the importance of walking with You through Your Word. I receive wisdom to build systems that help me stay consistent in my study and fellowship with You. As I draw near to You daily, my life becomes brighter and more fruitful, in Jesus' name. Amen."
