If you have the wisest person in the whole world counselling you—somebody who knows everything, who knows tomorrow, who knows all—telling you what to do all the time, how could you fail? You would see yourself doing the right thing the first time and find yourself in the right place at the right time. The Bible says, "...the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things..." (John 14:26).
Listen carefully: don't try to know anybody until you have known the Holy Spirit. Fighting for a relationship, begging somebody to love you—they are not necessary. Know the Holy Spirit first. You may even be asking the wrong person for love. Get to know the Holy Spirit. He is your Counsellor and Guide. And He lives in you. The Bible says, "Christ in you, [is] the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27 SBA).
He has become our wisdom. Glory to God! The Bible says, "...Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom..." (1 Corinthians 1:30). Glory is not in prayer or somewhere far away in Heaven. It is Christ in you. If you have Him in you, there is hope. Oh, glory to God!
Do you see what that means? It doesn't matter how bad things seem. Christ in you gives hope. The hope that things will not always remain the same is because Christ is in you. No wonder I am confident about life. My confidence is not just because I am a Christian. No, the Holy Spirit lives inside me. I have trained myself to recognize Him, and I listen to Him.
There is no failure for a person who listens to the Holy Spirit. It is not possible. He is my Counsellor. He tells me what to do. The Bible says, "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth... and he will shew you things to come" (John 16:13).
The reason I teach these things is that I want you to enjoy the glorious life that is in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit is the beauty of Christianity, the secret to walking in wisdom, peace, and victory every day. The Bible says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;..." (Hosea 4:6).
So this is what you should do: don't chase after people, approval, or temporary solutions. First, get to know the Holy Spirit. Recognize Him as your Counsellor, Strengthener, and Guide. Listen to His voice every day. Allow Him to lead your thoughts, decisions, and actions. When you do this, your life will line up perfectly with God's plan, and you will experience true confidence, hope, and the love of Jesus in every area of your life.
