It's not what you want that changes your life; it's what you think that changes your life. Until you start thinking like you are in Christ, you will not enjoy the dividends and benefits of being in Him. As long as you live thinking like an Igbo man, a Yoruba, or a Japanese, Christ will not profit you anything. The Bible says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away..." (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Christ becomes of no effect to anyone who tries to be justified by the law or controlled by tradition. If your life is still under the weight of law, culture, or family traditions, you will miss the fullness of God's grace. The Bible says, "...whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all" (James 2:10).
Many Christians live this way. They receive only a part of the Word and mix it with tradition. Some are in 10% faith, 90% tradition. Others are in 20% faith, 50% religion, 30% tradition. When this happens, Christ has no effect. The Bible warns about this very thing: "making the word of God of none effect through your tradition,... and many such like things do ye" (Mark 7:13).
This is why God's Word does not work for many people. They may pray, declare healing, or speak blessings, yet nothing changes. You may see someone healed, but when you try the same, it fails. It is not because God is not powerful; it is because your mind, influenced by culture, tradition, and family teachings, does not align with the Word of God. The Bible says, "...be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...." (Romans 12:2).
Your mentality matters. The sickness or problem responds to faith, not nationality or tradition. Your authority as a Christian comes from Christ, not your family culture. A Bini boy cannot command authority outside Christ; an Igbo man cannot operate God's Word apart from belief. That's why praying, declaring, and speaking God's Word without faith leads to no result. The Bible says, "...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
Many Christians deceive themselves. They declare they are healed, prosperous, or delivered, but their lives do not reflect it. They know deep inside they are still struggling, yet they rely on mere words without faith. Jesus said that people make the Word of God powerless through tradition, mindset, and what they learned from family.
The message is clear: change your mind, not just your words. Your thinking must align with Christ. You must accept that you are in Him, empowered by His Spirit, and separated from the limitations of culture and family tradition. The Bible says, "...as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" (Romans 8:14). Believe God's Word fully, and renew your mind with it, only then will it work fully in your life.
