RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. - ACTS 1:8

When people come out to receive the Holy Spirit, there is a noticeable difference in how they respond. Some receive very quickly the moment hands are laid on them. The instant the prayer is made, the Holy Ghost comes, and they begin speaking in tongues. Why? Because they were told clearly that when the Holy Spirit comes, power comes with Him—and speaking in tongues is a gift. A gift is not paid for; it is received. All they are waiting for is the touch of the hand, and it happens.

But others, who were told it is hard to receive the Holy Spirit, that they have to wait, pray for many days or weeks, respond slowly. That is a wrong teaching. In the Bible, those who got born again were baptized immediately. It goes together. Traditional religious Christianity invented classes: first, a born-again class for months, then a Holy Spirit class. By the time a person is done, they are still sinners, still unspiritual.

Jesus made something very clear about identity when He said, "Ye are of your father the devil..." (John 8:44). He was teaching that identity flows from parentage. If your father is a dog, you are a dog. If your father is a cat, you are a cat. That is how identity works—it is determined by the life that produced you.

Here is the revelation: if God is your Father, then what defines you is not your outward appearance or your past. What defines you is the life that came from Him. The Bible declares, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be..." (1 John 3:2). Even if it does not yet appear outwardly, the reality is already settled—you are a child of God.

We may not look like God on the outside, but His life is in us. That is what makes us His sons. The difference between appearance and reality is the life flowing within. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, He imparts the very life of God into you. You are no longer defined by your background, your struggles, or people's opinions. You are defined by whose life is in you.

That is why Jesus said, "...ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..." (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit does not come empty-handed. He comes with power, life, and divine enablement. And one of the immediate signs of His presence is speaking in tongues—a supernatural utterance flowing from the life of God within.

So receive the Holy Spirit today with expectation and faith. Don't let anyone convince you that it is difficult or that you must wait. He is a gift, freely given by God. As you receive Him, let the life of God rise within you. Speak in tongues boldly as a sign of His indwelling presence. Know who you are—a child of God—and let that reality govern how you live.

Confession & Prayer

"Father, I thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit as my Helper and life-giver. I receive Him now with faith, expecting His presence and power to fill me. Let Your life flow in me and define who I am. I walk in my true identity as Your child—empowered, alive, and victorious, in Jesus' name. Amen."
