Nothing about life makes sense on its own. Only the Word of God can explain life to us. The Bible says, "...Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). You live by the Word of God and only the Word tells us where we came from, how we came into this world, and why we are here. Have you ever asked yourself the meaning of life? Right now, life may seem confusing or empty—but God's Word gives life true meaning.
Some people look at life and think, "Oh, this life is empty. There's nothing in this world. What are people struggling for?" They work hard, struggle, and finally die, thinking life has nothing to offer. But that is not the truth. The Bible reminds us, "The LORD has made everything for its purpose..." (Proverbs 16:4 ESV). Life has a purpose—it is not empty.
If you don't live for the purpose God created you for, at the end of your life, it will be said that you lived an empty life. Many live like this every day—living only for their family, society, or themselves. They work and labour tirelessly but achieve nothing eternal, but the Bible asks, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36).
Let me say this clearly: if all you live for are things you will leave behind when you die, you are missing the true purpose of life. If your labour is only for temporary things, you do not understand the meaning of life. Think about your life now. What motivates you to wake up every morning? What drives you to go to sleep at night? What do you pursue every day? You do not have to wait until the end of your life to know whether it has been empty or fulfilling. As the Psalmist says, "...teach us to number our days, That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom" (Psalm 90:12).
Life is like taking an exam. Some people know immediately after writing whether they did well or failed. Others leave it in God's hands, unsure of the result. Life works in the same way—you can know daily if you are living a purposeful life.
That is why God gave us the Bible. His Word guides us and gives our lives meaning. You don't have to be confused about life, God already gave you His manual, his Word - the Word provides guidance, purpose, and direction. As the Psalmist declares, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105). When you live by the Word, you will not live an empty life. You will find meaning and fulfilment every single day.
