THINK RIGHT

...as he is, so are we in this world - 1 JOHN 4:17

Tap to read full chapter

As a Christian, the Devil wants you to think that you are foolish, weak, and that you can never do well or please God. He wants you to believe you will never make it in this Christian life and that you should just give up because you are struggling with habits. But you must realize that Satan keeps giving you those thoughts so that you will accommodate a mind set of worthlessness. The Bible exposes his nature by reminding us that "...he is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44).

We must not mistake this feeling of worthlessness for humility. There are people who enjoy feeling worthless, thinking those thoughts make them look humble before God. They will even say to Him in prayer, "Oh God, I know you are Great, Almighty God. I know I'm not worthy to stand before you. Who am I? I'm like a little ant; I am nothing before you". Now, when you talk that way, you think you are being humble. But you are not. You are doing two things: you are insulting God and being foolish. If you say you are nothing, when He said in His Word that "...as he is, so are we in this world" (1 John 4:17), you are contradicting God. He said you are like Him—did He send His Son to die for 'nothing'?

That is exactly how Satan wants you to think. You may hear some say, "Father, I know I'm not worthy". You were not worthy; that is why He came to die. The Bible says, "...while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). But you are worthy now! You can't say you're not worthy anymore. What do you mean by that? If you are not worthy now, then when will you ever be worthy? That's not how to reason, He called you a king! The Bible says He has "...made us kings and priests unto God..." (Revelation 1:6). God said in His Word that you are like Him. You are a child of God. It's not just a name—that is who you are in reality. Jesus is the firstborn in this family, so do not think that you are not worthy.

If you don't change the way you think, nothing will change in your life. The Bible says, "...be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind..." (Romans 12:2). All the big, big things God has for you, you may never experience them because you think you are not worthy.

So from today, stop agreeing with the Devil and start agreeing with God. When those wrong thoughts come, answer them with the Word. Say what God has said about you. See yourself the way He sees you. Walk like someone Jesus died for. Think like a child of God. Live like one who is loved, accepted, and empowered. And step into all the things He has prepared for you.

Confession & Prayer

"Father, I thank You because I am Your child and I am accepted in Christ. I thank You because as You are, so am I in this world. I refuse every lie of worthlessness, weakness, and failure. I receive the truth of Your Word, and my mind is renewed. From today, I walk in confidence, victory, and bold faith, in Jesus' name. Amen."
