GUARD YOUR HEART

...Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it - PROVERBS 4:23 NIV

A lot of people do not know what the time is or what is going on in the world right now. For many years, the Bible has talked about the signs of the end time in Timothy, Matthew, and John. For example, in 2 Timothy 3:1, the Bible says, "...in the last days perilous times shall come". Many are not aware that we are actually living in the time of the signs. These are the times those signs were pointing to. In these times, there are certain scriptures you must be very mindful of, specifically Proverbs 4:23.

Please take this to heart; I would not be sharing this if it were not of a high security alert. In society, such an alert might mean a curfew where movement is restricted. That level of alertness is what is required in our Christian walk today. The Bible warned that "...some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;" (1 Timothy 4:1).

There is a serious infiltration of doctrines of devils right now, which is why the Bible says, "...guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23 NIV). Nobody will do this for you; this responsibility is personal. Your heart is a vessel, which leads to an important question: what are the doors to your heart that must be guarded? Just as a house has entrances to prevent unwanted guests, your heart has entrances that must be protected.

Primarily, the first entrance is through your ears, for things enter your spirit through your ears; Jesus warned, "...Take heed what ye hear..." (Mark 4:24). The second entrance is through your eyes, for Jesus explained, "...if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light" (Matthew 6:22). The third entrance is through your mouth. Jesus made it clear that "...those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man" (Matthew 15:18). The words you speak introduce things into your heart. When you say, "Jesus is Lord", those words open your heart to receive Christ. In the same way, when people speak fear, unbelief, or sickness, those words open doors; the Bible confirms that, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." (Proverbs 18:21). You should not just talk—check what you say.

Guarding your heart requires intentional discipline. You must be careful about who you listen to, what you watch, and what you say. In this season of high security alert, you must take total responsibility for your spiritual safety by filling your heart with God's Word. The Bible says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." (Colossians 3:16). When your heart is filled with God's Word, there is no room for deception. The Word becomes your filter and defence, ensuring that what flows out of your heart produces life.

Confession & Prayer

"Father, help me to guard my heart with all diligence in these last days. Teach me to watch what I hear, what I see, and what I say. Help me to fill my heart daily with Your Word. Deliver me from false doctrines and keep my heart aligned with Your truth, in Jesus' name. Amen."
