You are the called of Jesus; you were called out of the world. You were chosen; you are God's chosen vessel. You did not get born again because you like God, you didn't get born again because you were tired of the world and decided to come to Christ. The only reason somebody even preached to you is because God already chose you, Jesus said, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you..." (John 15:16).
This divine selection happened long before you were even aware of Him. The Bible says, "…he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world…" (Ephesians 1:4). Nobody can choose God, and it was not you that chose God. You did not find Christ; it's Christ that found you. Someone might say they found the Lord ten years ago, but He was never lost—you were the lost one.
It is beautiful to know that you were called because, as Jesus said, "Ye have not chosen me". It is not about you liking God, because nobody can like God when God has not liked him. It is not in us to like God, for everything in this world opposes God, so it is not in any man naturally to like God. When you see yourself liking God, hearing the Word of God, and being in God's house, it is because God chose you. Jesus made this clear when He said, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him…" (John 6:44). The moment God chose you, His choice of you gave birth to your like of Him; therefore, your relationship with Him is not about you.
The biggest thing in that passage of John 15:16 is when He said, "…I have chosen you…", because you don't choose where there are no options. You only mention chosen where there are alternatives. He chose you. God chose you. You may think you are ordinary, but you are not. You don't choose what you have not examined. There were other options. There were people God bypassed and said it's you He wanted. He chose you. You were chosen. Because of this divine choice, you are "…a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people…" (1 Peter 2:9). If you have never known in your life that you are special to God, you better start thinking that way because you are. You are a chosen vessel, hand-picked by the Father for a specific purpose - to bring forth fruit.
