LABOUR IN PRAYER

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority... - 1 TIMOTHY 2:1–2

Prayer is work. It is not a means of complaining to God; prayer is labour. We need to contribute prayer for souls to be won. I am not talking about "Father, give us daily bread", I am talking about prayer for souls. God wants all men to be saved, and prayer is the avenue through which His will is enforced on Earth. The Bible says, "...will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:4).

God cannot do anything on Earth without men praying. Why? Because He gave the Earth to man. Just like a landlord who owns a house but must knock while a tenant's lease is still running, God gave the Earth to man. Until that lease expires, man has legal authority here, and the will of God cannot prevail on Earth unless men enforce it through prayer. Prayer gives God permission to work on Earth.

So prayer is one of our works. The Bible says, "Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God" (Colossians 4:12). When you hear "pray," it means come and pray. You don't need to pray powerful prayers because we pray to a powerful God. Even a simple prayer to a powerful God is enough.

Prayer is not optional. Serving God requires that you intercede for others. Pray for your pastor, pray for crusades, and pray for the salvation of souls. Prayer is the foundation of service—it is the engine that sets everything else in motion. The Bible says, "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;" (Luke 18:1). By recognizing that prayer is the legal permission God requires to move on Earth, you must take up your responsibility to labour fervently for souls, ensuring that your service is powered by the engine of intercession rather than the weakness of human effort.

Confession & Prayer

"Father, teach me to pray with purpose and diligence. Help me to labour in prayer for souls, for Your will to be done on Earth, and for Your kingdom to expand. Strengthen my faith and give me the discipline to make prayer a priority in my service to You, in Jesus' name. Amen."
