DON'T BE CASUAL

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ - 2 TIMOTHY 2:3

Tap to read full chapter

Life is spiritual. Christians cannot survive by being neutral because the day you received Jesus, that is the day you became an enemy of the Devil. The Bible says, "...know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God" (James 4:4). If you want the world to be friendly with you, join the world fully. If you want to have peace, join the world—and when you are through, you have to go to the same place where the world and all those who don't believe in Jesus will end up.

There are two ways to having a very sweet life on Earth: either you join Satan fully, or you join God fully and learn the Word of God. You can't stay in the middle and survive; that is why many Christians are suffering. A lot of Christians are not Satan's children—they don't join Satan or do rituals—but they still do not learn the Word of God. They are very casual about God, living a casual Christianity. They are not rugged in their faith. The Bible warns, "...thou art neither cold nor hot... So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth" (Revelation 3:15-16).

You are born again and you love God, but speaking in tongues around you is irritating. You ask, "What are they saying?" and yet you are born again? You wonder why we pray like this, thinking God is not deaf and that we should take it cool and calm. Learn this: Christianity is a rugged life. Raw Christianity is very rugged. The Bible says, "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ" (2 Timothy 2:3). Did you see what He called us? He called us soldiers of Christ. Not police. You don't send police to war; they will leave you there. He called us soldiers, and soldiers are rough and do not have fear. The Christian life is a life of warfare where we deal with demons. The Bible says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers... against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). You have to learn the Word of God for yourself; it is not just for a few people.

So you that needs a pastor to pray for you, that is the problem. How long will somebody carry you in their faith? That person praying for you learnt the Word of God, and you can learn it too. You learn it to solve your problems, and soon, you will start solving other people's problems.

Now is the time to stop being casual. Take responsibility for your spiritual life today. Learn the Word. Stand firm. Fight. Pray. Win souls. Give. Be rugged. God is calling soldiers, not spectators. Your future, your peace, and your victory depend on how seriously you commit to Christ now.

Confession & Prayer

"Father, I thank You for calling me as a soldier in Your kingdom. I repent for every form of casual Christianity and neutrality in my life. Today, I choose to be rugged. Grant me the discipline to learn Your Word for myself so that I may stand strong in warfare and be a solution to others, in Jesus' name. Amen."
