There is a difference between God's purpose and God's will. The will of God is not common; in fact, most people are always outside God's will for their lives. A lot of people never find God's will, and they don't walk in it. What exactly is God's will? It simply means: What does God want you to do? Where does He want you to live? Which city? What kind of work does He want you to do? Who does He want you to marry? Where does He want you to go? God's will is about direction. It is about Him directing your path.
God's will is important because all of His provision is found inside His will for you. Outside His will, there is struggle; however, inside His will, there is supply. The Bible says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). It is very important that you function in God's will. You have to be truly concerned about God's will to even know it.
Understand that God's will does not just happen automatically. Sometimes you pray and sometimes you wait. In walking in God's will, there is waiting. We live in a generation of fast food where everything is fast, and most people cannot wait. But the Bible says, "...they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength..." (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting is not weakness; waiting builds strength.
God said, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:11–13 NIV). You must call upon Him. You must pray. You must seek Him with all your heart. Don't waste your life. Pain is not necessary. Why the hurry in making decisions without hearing from God? It is unwise. Don't be in a hurry. You are not in competition with somebody else. The Bible says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Your life has timing, and your destiny has order.
Slow down. Pray. Seek God. Wait for His direction. Don't move just because others are moving, and don't decide just because others are deciding. Make sure you are inside God's will. That is where your provision is. That is where your protection is. That is where your peace is. Make a decision today to stop rushing and start listening. Seek Him with all your heart, and let Him direct your life.
