There is a difference between God's purpose and God's will. The will of God is not common; in fact, many people exist outside of it for most of their lives. A lot of people never find God's will, let alone walk in it. The Bible says, "Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is" (Ephesians 5:17). What exactly is God's will? It is the blueprint for your life: What does He want you to do? Where does He want you to live? What kind of work should you pursue, and who should you marry? Ultimately, God's will is about direction-it is about Him directing your path.
God's will is important because all of God's provision is inside His will for you. Outside His will, there is struggle. Inside His will, there is supply. No wonder the psalmist said, "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1). If God is guiding you, there are no wants. This is why it is important you function in God's will, and you have to be concerned about God's will to even know it. God's will does not just happen automatically. Sometimes you pray. Sometimes you wait. In walking in God's will, there is waiting. And we live in a generation of fast food, where everything is fast. Most people cannot wait. But the Bible says, "...they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength..." (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting is not a sign of weakness; it is a process that builds strength.
Look at what God said, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV). You must call upon Him, pray, and seek Him with your whole heart.
Don't waste your life. Pain is not necessary. Why the hurry in making decisions without hearing from God? It is unwise. Don't be in a hurry. You are not in competition with somebody else. The Bible says, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:" (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Your life has timing, and your destiny has order.
Slow down. Pray. Seek God. Wait for His direction. Don't move because others are moving. Don't decide because others are deciding. Make sure you are inside God's will. That is where your provision is. That is where your protection is. That is where your peace is. Make a decision today to stop rushing and start listening. Seek Him with all your heart, and let Him direct your life.
