Many of us spend our lives chasing things like food, clothing, and shelter. We get so caught up in struggling for these daily needs, but look at what Jesus said: "For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things" (Matthew 6:32). Jesus explained that these personal needs are exactly what unbelievers worry about. There is no need for you to worry, because your Father in Heaven already knows exactly what you need.
Jesus provides the formula for a worry-free life: He said, "What you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need" (Matthew 6:33 ERV). When we focus on God's kingdom and doing His will, He takes responsibility for our needs.
Imagine a child who wants things from his father. He focuses only on his desire for toys, unaware that his father also has responsibilities. However, after his mother advises him to change his approach, the child washes his father's car, cleans his father's shoes, and starts taking responsibility for things that matter to his father. Suddenly, the father becomes interested in the child's needs.
In much the same way when you take an interest in what matters to God, God takes an interest in what matters to you. The Bible says, "Make God the utmost delight and pleasure of your life, and he will provide for you what you desire the most" (Psalm 37:4 SBA). When you pursue God's interests, God takes care of yours.
Hear me clearly: God does not exist for your personal agenda. Many people live as though God exists only to solve their personal problems. But the Scripture says, "...everything was created through him and for his purpose" (Colossians 1:16 SBA). Life is meant to revolve around God's purpose.
There are people who pray only about personal matters—marriage, business, and contracts—forgetting what God wants from them. However, when God's kingdom becomes your priority, the things people desire begin to flow into your life.
God is not asking you to ignore your needs; He is asking you to prioritize His kingdom. When you focus on doing what He wants, you position yourself for His provision. The Bible says, "Delight thyself also in the LORD; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart" (Psalm 37:4).
Today, decide that God's kingdom will be your greatest pursuit. Let your heart be set on doing His will, advancing His work, and living for His purpose. When you give yourself to what matters to God, He takes responsibility for what matters to you. This is the secret Jesus revealed—the life where God "adds" all things to you.
